The Renaissance Singers invites you to be part of their 2011-2012 concert season. This year the choir will present a series of three concerts plus our annual cabaret evening. The first program has a Celtic flavour and will feature many of your favourite melodies from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Maritimes. At Christmas, we present seasonal favourites wonderfully augmented with Celtic harp and fiddle played by our special guests Sara Lynn and Jay Weiler. Each of the first two concerts features opportunities for audience participation, so bring your best singing voice and be ready to join in. The final concert of the series will makes a wonderful connection between the Spanish Renaissance masters and some of the fine contemporary Latin American composers. At the centre of this concert will be the sparkling Misa Criolla by Argentine composer, Ariel Ramirez. Based on folk melodies and dance rhythms, this piece is always a real hit with singers and audience members alike. Once again, if you purchase a subscription you will get a FREE ticket to our cabaret evening at Victoria Park Pavillion. This year’s theme is “Tango Cancion”. The choir will perform some wonderful vocal music inspired by various dance forms, not least of which is the sultry tango.
